News Synopsis

San Francisco,  Elon Musk has given Twitter employees until Thursday to perform "extremely hardcore" work or leave the microblogging platform, bringing his Tesla style of working to Twitter.

The new Twitter CEO reportedly warned to terminate any employees who did not commit to the deadline by Thursday evening in an email that was copied and seen by a news agency.

Musk remarked, "Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore,"

"This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade," he stated.

After Musk took over Twitter, there were reports of Twitter employees dozing asleep on the office floor.

Musk has previously claimed that he has sometimes worked up to 120 hours a week and slept on the floor at a Tesla factory.

According to the report posted on Wednesday, Musk promised Twitter staff in a note that the company will become "much more engineering-driven"

He sent them to an online form and added, "If you are sure that you want to be part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below by Thursday evening,"

"Whatever decision you make, thank you for your efforts to make Twitter successful," Musk said.

At least 20 Twitter employees have been fired by Musk for criticising his actions on the social media site or the internal messaging app Slack. Some of these employees were fired for no other reason than for retweeting posts that criticized the new Twitter CEO.
