News Synopsis

Meta owned WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to start and take polls in group chats. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will soon let users type poll questions to send to a group chat.

The feature is already available in the rival chat app Telegram and in Twitter as well. It seems that WhatsApp is planning to release the same feature to its userbase as well. The report also included a screenshot, showcasing the “Create Poll” feature on iOS.

It was spotted on v2.22.6.70 beta and is not available to all beta testers as of right now. WhatsApp is also working on a new interface for voice calls. The new interface would be released for both Android and iOS users, but the testing is being performed with the beta Android users. References to redesigns were already found in previous beta updates for iOS and Android users.

The new WhatsApp voice calling interface comes with a round grey square on the front and centre. It also includes the contact's name, number and profile picture. WhatsApp also plans to provide real-time voice waveforms to calls so that callers can know exactly who is speaking.
