News Synopsis

WhatsApp has published its sixth monthly report on the actions that it takes on complaints and reports by users in India. The latest report is for November 2021.

The report shows that WhatsApp has banned 1,759,000 accounts in the month of November. WhatsApp banned the accounts under its abuse detection process along with the in-app reporting system.

WhatsApp has also shared the reports it has received from the grievances from its users. Total 357 ban appeals were made, but the action was taken on only 36 accounts. WhatsApp also received 147 account support reports, 48 product support reports, and 27 safety reports. But no action was taken for these complaints.

WhatsApp has said that in some cases there is a possibility of duplicated tickets, reassignment of tickets, and has advised the users to take any action through in-app reporting. It also received 21 “other support” reports which WhatsApp has said are not consistently classified.
