Jeremy Lalrinnunga and Achinta Sheuli won gold medals in men's weightlifting, bringing India's total to six at the Commonwealth Games,2022 in Birmingham.

At the end of Day 2 of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Jeremy Lalrinnunga and Achinta Sheuli won gold medals in men's weightlifting, bringing India's total to six. Lalrinnuga won the 67kg title with a new Games Record of 300kg (combined snatch + clean and jerk) lift. Meanwhile, Sheuli closed off another outstanding performance by the weightlifters by winning India's third gold medal and sixth overall after lifting 313kg in the men's 73kg division. He did so after topping the charts with 143kg in Snatch and 170kg in Clean and Jerk. Srihari Nataraj will compete in the men's 50m backstroke final after qualifying eighth with a time of 25.38.

His event is scheduled for Monday. At the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the men's hockey team defeated Ghana 11-0 in Pool B. In addition, India's mixed-team badminton team defeated South Africa 3-0 to go to the semifinals. In squash, India's Saurav Ghosal advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's singles event after defeating Canada's David Baillargeon in straight sets.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, is an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that is currently taking place in Birmingham, England, from 28 July to 8 August 2022.

Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017, marking England's third time hosting the Commonwealth Games after London 1934 and Manchester 2002.
