News Synopsis

Volvo has unveiled the new EX60 electric SUV for the European market. Built on Volvo’s all-new EV-dedicated SPA3 platform, the EX60 marks the brand’s entry into the luxury midsize electric SUV segment. Notably, the EX60 serves as the fully electric alternative to the ICE-powered Volvo XC60 and will be launched in the U.S. after its European debut.

Volvo Unveils the EX60 Electric SUV in Europe

Volvo has introduced its latest electric SUV, the EX60, for European customers. This model is the first Volvo vehicle built on the brand’s new SPA3 electric vehicle platform, designed exclusively for EVs. The EX60 is positioned as a premium midsize electric SUV and represents Volvo’s electric counterpart to the popular Volvo XC60 with petrol and diesel engines.

Following its launch in Europe, the EX60 is also expected to be introduced in the United States at a later stage.

Volvo EX60 Battery Options and Driving Range

Volvo is offering the EX60 with three battery pack options, catering to different driving needs. The available battery capacities include 83kWh, 95kWh, and 117kWh.

According to the company, the top-spec variant delivers a driving range of up to 810km on a single charge.

Volvo EX60 Exterior Design

The design of the Volvo EX60 reflects the brand’s latest EV design language and closely resembles the larger EX30 from the front. Key exterior highlights include a split headlamp setup, Volvo’s signature Thor Hammer LED DRLs, LED headlamps positioned on both sides of the bumper, a closed-off grille, and a black front scuff plate.

Side Profile and Wheel Design

The side profile of the EX60 is clean and smooth, with subtle character lines on the wheel arches and doors. Black cladding is provided along the lower section of the doors. Instead of conventional door handles, the SUV features illuminated wing-grip handles mounted along the window line.

Wheel sizes range from 20 inches to 22 inches, with slightly wider rear tyres to enhance traction.

Rear Design Elements

At the rear, the EX60 gets slim LED tail-lamps, a black strip across the tailgate, chunky black cladding, and a thin silver strip integrated into the rear bumper.

Two Exterior Theme Options

Volvo is offering the EX60 in two exterior themes:

  • Bright Theme, featuring silver accents on the door sills and bumpers

  • Dark Theme, which comes with black exterior finishes

These themes are designed to cater to different styling preferences.

Higher Ground Clearance and Cross Country Variant

Volvo has also introduced a Cross Country version of the EX60, designed with a more rugged character. This variant offers:

  • 20mm higher ground clearance

  • Stainless steel skid plates

  • Matte black cladding

  • Exclusive Frost Green exterior colour

  • Unique interior theme and materials

  • Cross Country branding on the D-pillars and bumpers

  • Adaptive air suspension with a dedicated off-road mode

This version is aimed at customers who want better capability on rough roads and light off-road conditions, in addition to highway driving.

Volvo EX60 Interior Design

The cabin of the Volvo EX60 features a dual-tone, layered dashboard layout. It comes equipped with a two-spoke steering wheel, physical buttons, a toggle-style volume control, and a steering column-mounted drive selector stalk.

Other interior highlights include a large central glovebox, ample storage space in the front centre console, and multiple upholstery and colour options for the seats.
