News Synopsis

From its Hoskote plant near Bengaluru, luxury automaker Volvo Car India unveiled the XC40 Recharge, an all-electric SUV that is the first assembled in India. This represents a significant step toward the company's goal of going all-electrified by 2030.

The XC40 Recharge was introduced on July 26, 2022, with reservations going on sale online the following day for Rs 55.90 lakh, ex-showroom. Indian consumers of luxury vehicles responded well to the vehicle. For CY2022 and the Indian market, all 150 units of the XC40 Recharge have been purchased. After beginning in October, the company intends to finish delivering all 150 XC40 Recharge vehicles by the end of December 2022.

The first XC40 Recharge was launched by Volvo Car India Managing Director Jyoti Malhotra in the presence of Pascal Kusters, Plant Head, and other team members.

A twin-motor powers the XC40 Recharge pure electric vehicle. The SUV develops a maximum torque of 660Nm and 408 bhp. According to international test standards, a 78 kWh battery pack powers the electric motors, enabling a range of up to 418 kilometres on a single charge (WLTP). It takes 4.9 seconds to go from 0 to 100 kph. Using a fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in around 28 minutes (150KW).

“We had in May this year announced that we would commence local assembly of our all electric offering the XC40 Recharge and today we witnessed the first car rolling off the assembly line at our Hoskote plant near Bengaluru, Karnataka. Today’s event further strengthens our commitment of offering the Indian market a new electric model every year. The rollout is also a step in the right direction towards our goal of becoming an all-electric company by 2030,”  according  to Jyoti Malhotra.
