News Synopsis

Volkswagen India has announced a major price revision at the start of 2026. While prices of several variants have increased, the company has surprised buyers by offering significant price cuts and discounts on the base variants of the Volkswagen Taigun and Volkswagen Virtus, making them more attractive to new customers.

Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus Price Revision Explained

With the arrival of the New Year 2026, Volkswagen India has revised prices across its model lineup. Although most variants of the Taigun and Virtus have become more expensive, the automaker has reduced prices of select entry-level variants by up to ₹84,000, creating fresh buying opportunities.

Let’s take a closer look at the variant-wise discounts and updated pricing.

Volkswagen Taigun Discounts and Offers

This is a good time for customers planning to buy the Volkswagen Taigun. The company is offering discounts of up to ₹1.04 lakh on the base Comfortline variant.

Key Taigun Discount Highlights (MY2025 Models):

  • Comfortline MT: Up to ₹1.04 lakh benefit

  • Highline Plus AT: Up to ₹1 lakh benefit

  • GT Line AT: Up to ₹80,000 benefit

Additionally, the top-end GT Plus Chrome DSG and GT Plus Sport DSG variants are eligible for an exchange bonus of up to ₹50,000.

The Volkswagen Taigun, which competes with the Hyundai Creta and Tata Sierra, is expected to receive a facelift later this year. Currently, its price ranges between ₹11.42 lakh and ₹19.19 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen Virtus Discounts and Offers

Volkswagen is also offering attractive deals on the Virtus sedan. The biggest benefit is available on the entry-level Comfortline variant.

Key Virtus Discount Highlights:

  • Comfortline MT: Up to ₹1.26 lakh discount

  • Highline Plus AT: Up to ₹1 lakh discount

  • GT Line AT: Up to ₹80,000 discount

Customers can also avail an exchange bonus of up to ₹30,000 on select variants. However, no offers are currently available on the manual version with the same engine.

The Volkswagen Virtus competes with the Honda City and Hyundai Verna, and a facelift version is also expected later this year. Its current price ranges from ₹11.20 lakh to ₹18.78 lakh (ex-showroom).

Why Volkswagen Reduced Prices on Base Variants

After the discontinuation of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Virtus now directly competes with the Skoda Slavia and Honda City in the mid-size sedan segment. By reducing prices of base variants, Volkswagen aims to attract first-time premium sedan buyers.

This price revision is also seen as a strategic move to strengthen market presence ahead of the Taigun facelift and the launch of Volkswagen’s upcoming 7-seater SUV in India.
