Visa Appointed Ryan McInerney As Its Next Chief Executive

Ryan McInerney was appointed by Visa on Thursday to replace Alfred Kelly as its CEO, who will retire on February 1, 2023.

Since 2013, McInerney has served as Visa's president, managing the company's financial institutions, acquirers, merchants, and partners.

The 47-year-old formerly served as JPMorgan Chase's CEO for consumer banking and held executive positions in charge of operations and risk management for the company's consumer and home lending divisions. Additionally, he oversaw the launch of its mobile banking service.

In a statement, Kelly said, “Ryan has boundless energy and passion for this business and in his role as President, and as my close partner for the past six years, he has become intimately familiar with how Visa operates and the exciting opportunities this industry presents,” 

Kelly, 64, will take over as executive chairman of Visa. He was elected as board chairman in 2019 and has been the organization's CEO since 2016.

At American Express, where he previously worked for 23 years, he held the position of president. Prior to that, he served as president and chief executive officer of the technology and digital media company Intersection and served as the White House's director of information systems under President Ronald Reagan. He is a board member of both Visa and Catalyst.

The corporate headquarters of the American financial services giant Visa Inc. are in San Francisco, California. It makes electronic money transfers available anywhere in the world, most frequently via prepaid, debit, and credit cards bearing the Visa name. One of the most valuable firms in the world is Visa.
