News Synopsis

Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has announced a major restructuring of its global brand portfolio while unveiling two new ultra-luxury electric vehicles — the VinFast Lac Hong 800S and VinFast Lac Hong 900S. The move introduces a three-tier brand structure designed to clarify VinFast’s product lineup and support its global expansion strategy. With these additions, the company is also entering the ultra-luxury EV segment, combining advanced electric technology with Vietnamese cultural design influences.

VinFast Introduces Three-Tier Brand Strategy

As part of its long-term growth plan, VinFast has reorganised its automotive lineup into three distinct brand categories, each serving a different market segment. This restructuring is intended to make the company’s product strategy clearer while supporting its expansion into international markets.

The three new divisions include:

  • Lac Hong – Ultra-luxury electric vehicles

  • VF Series – Mainstream consumer EV models

  • Green Line – Commercial and mobility-focused electric vehicles

This strategic shift allows VinFast to address multiple segments of the global EV market while ensuring each category has a clearly defined identity and purpose.

Lac Hong Brand to Represent Ultra-Luxury Vehicles

At the top of the new structure sits the Lac Hong brand, which will represent VinFast’s most premium and technologically advanced vehicles.

The Lac Hong lineup currently includes the VinFast Lac Hong 900 LX, and it will now expand with the addition of the newly revealed Lac Hong 800S and Lac Hong 900S.

These vehicles are designed to compete in the ultra-luxury electric vehicle segment, a category traditionally dominated by established European luxury brands. By entering this space, VinFast aims to showcase Vietnam’s capabilities in automotive design, engineering and advanced electric mobility.

VF Series Continues as VinFast’s Core EV Lineup

While the Lac Hong brand targets high-end buyers, the VF series will remain the backbone of VinFast’s global passenger EV portfolio.

This lineup includes a wide range of electric vehicles covering multiple segments — from compact city cars to large family SUVs.

Examples include the compact VinFast VF 3, which is designed for urban mobility, and the flagship SUV VinFast VF 9, aimed at larger families and premium buyers seeking a fully electric SUV.

These vehicles are expected to continue playing a major role in VinFast’s expansion across markets in Asia, North America and Europe.

Green Brand Focused on Commercial Mobility

The third pillar of VinFast’s new strategy is the Green brand, developed specifically for commercial and service mobility applications.

Vehicles in this category are designed for fleet operators, ride-hailing services and urban logistics providers.

Models under the Green lineup include:

  • VinFast Limo Green

  • VinFast Herio Green

  • VinFast Nerio Green

  • VinFast Minio Green

These vehicles prioritise practicality, durability and efficiency for high-usage environments such as taxi fleets, shuttle services and commercial transportation.

Design Inspired by Vietnamese Heritage

The new Lac Hong 800S and 900S models draw significant inspiration from Vietnamese culture and heritage.

Several traditional design elements have been integrated into both the exterior and interior styling of the vehicles.

For example, the grille design features vertical slats inspired by bamboo stalks, a symbol commonly associated with resilience and strength in Vietnamese culture.

The badge design references the mythical Lac bird, a legendary figure in Vietnamese folklore.

Additional decorative motifs across the vehicles reflect:

  • Terraced rice fields

  • Patterns inspired by the Dong Son bronze drum, an ancient cultural artifact

  • Traditional Vietnamese art forms

The Lac Hong nameplate itself is crafted in a gold-plated alloy and styled using elegant calligraphy, further emphasising the brand’s luxury positioning.

Luxury Interiors and Executive Comfort

Inside the cabin, the Lac Hong models focus on delivering an experience designed for chauffeur-driven luxury travel.

Premium materials and craftsmanship are central to the interior design, including:

  • Nappa leather upholstery

  • Rare natural wood trims

  • Gold-plated interior accents

The vehicles are equipped with zero-gravity executive seats, which are engineered to reduce fatigue during long journeys.

Other high-end features include:

  • Automatic power-assisted doors

  • Advanced entertainment systems

  • Ambient lighting elements

The Lac Hong 900S offers additional exclusivity with features such as a privacy partition separating the front and rear cabins, a starlight-style headliner, and a large projection-based entertainment display.

Rear passengers can also use a fold-out executive workstation, making the vehicle suitable for business travel.

Powerful Electric Performance

Both the Lac Hong 800S and 900S are built on a new platform featuring fully active suspension technology designed to improve ride comfort and driving stability.

Buyers will have the option of a tri-motor powertrain configuration, which includes:

  • One motor at the front

  • Two motors at the rear

This setup can deliver up to 625 horsepower (460 kW) of combined power, placing the vehicles firmly in the high-performance luxury EV category.

Production Timeline and Future Expansion

VinFast has confirmed that production of the Lac Hong 800S and 900S is scheduled to begin in 2027.

The brand restructuring and the introduction of the Lac Hong line come after a period of strong domestic growth for VinFast. The company delivered 175,099 vehicles in Vietnam during 2025, maintaining its position as the country’s leading automaker.

With its new brand strategy and expansion into ultra-luxury EVs, VinFast aims to position itself as a serious competitor in the global electric vehicle market while showcasing Vietnamese innovation and design excellence.
