News Synopsis

The State Department has announced that the United States of America has allowed the consular officer to waive in-person interviews for H-1B and other non-immigrant visa applicants in order to reduce the visa wait times. 

From now on, the consular officers will be temporarily authorized for in-person interviews for about a dozen of visa categories. It will include Persons in Specialty Occupations, visas for students, temporary agricultural and non-agricultural workers, student exchange visitors along with athletes, artists, and entertainers.

The State Department has also extended the authorization to waive in-person interviews for visa renewal applications. The U.S. State Department has suspended all the routine visa services in most of the countries, seeing the outbreak of covid-19 in March 2020.
