UPI Payments Service now available on Feature Phones

Yesterday, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched a new feature that will enable 40 crores of Indians to use Unified Payment Interface (UPI) as a payment method. Till now the availability of UPI payment service was only limited to smartphones and was subjected to the availability of the Internet. Now RBI has launched the UPI service named as 123Pay UPI to make UPI payments on your feature. Unavailability of the Internet will also not prove to be a hindrance in your UPI transactions as it works without an Internet connection too. This feature was rolled out with the aim to provide UPI facility to underprivileged citizens who couldn’t afford smartphones. Shaktikanta Das, Governor of the Reserve Bank Of India explained the feature and advantages of this new UPI facility at the official launch event. Users now can use this facility to transfer money, refill gas, recharge fast tag, etc. This service is also available in regional languages. However, according to RBI users have to link their mobile number to their bank account. To avail of the UPI services, you have to just dial the IVR number ‘080 4516 3666’ and follow further instructions.
