The year 2021 has been a remarkable year for Indian startups. The startup ecosystem in India has reached a unicorn count of 43, and the total private startup counts to 68 in the year 2021. 

Deals & Startups Leader at PwC India, Amit Nawka has claimed that the unicorn count in 2022 can cross 100 in 2022. According to a report from PwC, 50 more startups have the potential to turn into unicorns this year, the majority of which will be from the Fintech, SaaS and logistics tech space. 

The report says that the companies that have raised over $100 million to date stand a fair chance to be a unicorn in their next funding round. The Deals & Startups Leader at PwC India has also said that the companies in the growth stage and late-stage deals have improved significantly in 2021 and the total number of unicorns can go beyond 100 in 2022.
