News Synopsis

Unicommerce, a supply chain SaaS technology platform, announced on Monday that it plans to add 800 warehouses to its network this fiscal year, amid the country's e-commerce boom. The company is also considering creating new categories and business models.

Currently, the platform provides warehousing management solutions to over 7,200 warehouses and manages over 96 million stock-keeping units (SKUs) across industries such as FMCG, beauty and wellness, fashion and accessories, and eyewear. According to the company, the integrated order, inventory, and warehouse management platform processes more than 20% of India's e-commerce volumes, with over 1 million daily transactions and a $5 billion GMV annual run rate.

"Over 8,000 warehouses will be leveraging Unicommerce's warehouse management platform by March 2023, while more than 7,200 warehouses are already live on it," the company said in a release.

Companies have deployed Unicommerce warehouse management solutions to manage and automate all warehouse workflows, including picking, packing, and dispatch of goods, as well as procurement of goods at the warehouse, according to the company.

Multiple new categories and business models have emerged in the last two years as e-commerce has gained traction in the country. According to the release, Unicommerce has emerged as a dominant player in the space due to its ability to assist D2C brands in expanding their operations to multiple warehouses.
