News Synopsis

The University Grants Commission has made a big announcement regarding higher education. Now students will be able to pursue two full-time degrees simultaneously. UGC Chairman Jagdish Kumar announced this on Tuesday. He said that under the new education policy, students from across the country can pursue two-degree programs simultaneously from the same university or different colleges. Under the guidelines issued by the UGC, universities across the country will now allow students to pursue two degrees at the same time.

According to the UGC guidelines, students can simultaneously complete any other degree course of their choice from the same university in which they are studying. If the students like any other course of their choice in any other university then they will be allowed to take admission in that also. In this new process, up to 40 per cent of the credits to be acquired by the students can be from a university other than their parent university. According to the UGC, the new guideline is being implemented simultaneously with two degree credit score system and multi-disciplinary education system. Apart from this, a new curriculum for undergraduate courses is also being worked out. Under this, universities are redesigning undergraduate courses.
