News Synopsis

Twitter is reconsidering Elon Musk’s offer to buy the micro-blogging platform after the billionaire said that he had secured the necessary funding. According to reports, Twitter is taking a fresh look at the offer and is more than before seeking to negotiate.

Tesla CEO has said that he has secured close to $46.5 billion to finance the transaction, but also that he planned to appeal directly to the company’s shareholders as he looks to take over the social media platform.

Twitter executives opposed the proposal, including a "poison pill" clause that would make it difficult for Musk to buy more than 15% of the company through the market. He currently owns a 9.2% stake.

According to a securities filing released last week, the polarized billionaire said it was considering bypassing Twitter's board of directors in a bid to buy shares directly from existing shareholders, but is not sure if it should be done this time.
