Toyota to shut its factories in Japan fearing cyber attack

Japanese automobile company Toyota Motors has decided to shut down all its manufacturing plants in Japan amid the suspicions of a possible cyber attack. Its supplier Kojima Industries Corporation suspects that it was attacked by Cybercriminals. One-third of the total cars produced by Toyota Motors are manufactured in Japan. Toyota in its statement said: "Due to a system failure at a supplier in Japan, we have decided to suspend the operation of 28 lines at all 14 domestic plants.” Closure of its manufacturing plants will severely affect the company's production. Toyota is one of the leading automobile manufacturing companies around the globe. It has been holding the title of World’s best selling automobile company for quite some time now. Toyota Corolla is the highest-selling car in the world. The company set 8.5 million units of vehicles as its production target for this financial year. Production of 13,000 cars will be delayed due to this sudden shutdown of its factories. Totoya before this shutdown was already struggling with production because of the global chip shortage. In India, Toyota recently announced that it is currently working on developing two new hybrid engines for its upcoming cars including the new generation Innova.
