News Synopsis

On Thursday, Thomson, Europe based consumer electronic firm revealed a range of air conditioners in India. With this, the firm aims to acquire a 10% market share in India. Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO, Super Platsronics Pvt. Ltd.(SPPL) and India Brand Licensee of Thomson while launching these air conditioners said: "We are very eager about this launch and introducing Thomson ACs to the Indian market with our strategic partner Flipkart. In five years, Thomson will be investing 500 crores in home appliances alone and by the end of three years we plan to achieve 10 percent of the online AC market." The ACs will hit the Indian market on March 22 and will be available on the e-commerce platform- Flipkart. The range will be starting at an introductory price of Rs 26,490. Mr. Marwah further said: "We are very aggressively looking at India's home appliance segment as this is one of the fastest-growing industries. Globally an average penetration of the air conditioner segment is 30 percent as compared to India's at a meagre 4 percent. This gives us a huge pitch of opportunity to play at."
