News Synopsis

Peter Thiel is pouring in more cash into another online endeavor for conservatives. The Right Stuff, an application that is not yet launched, is a new dating app built for conservatives living in major, liberal learning cities. The individual is selling $1.5 million into the seed round for it.

It will launch in Washington DC for the first time and will initially be invite-only, according to the outlet. Thiel's support comes as many right-wingers are building their own online ecosystems, including social media apps, to combat what they say is Big Tech's censorship of language right-wing talk. Critics oppose that claim, saying conservative social posts are moderate because they contain politically motivated misinformation.

It's also not the first time Thiel, who is known for his opposition and is a staunch Trump supporter, has backed an app that is currently popular with the right.

He's invested in YouTube-like video-sharing app Rumble, which has become a hit with conservatives because of its looser content moderation rules. Narya Capital, a fund partly backed by "Hillbilly Elegy" author and US Senate candidate JD Vance, also offers to fund.

Rumble is the company that offered controversial podcaster Joe Rogan $100 million to leave Spotify and join the platform. He is said to have declined, citing Spotify's loyalty to him when critics criticized his show for spreading misinformation about COVID19.

As Facebook and Twitter have begun removing or adding warning labels to posts or accounts in recent years, right-wing figures have condemned the platforms for serving a liberal agenda. Trump's disobedience to the two companies specifically ignited the flames.
