News Synopsis

The White House administration announced that it will send multiple weapons, including artillery systems, artillery rounds, and armored personnel carriers to war-affected Ukraine. This is a part of an additional $800 million aid package. This is being sent with the aim to strengthen Ukraine’s fight against Russia. In a press release on Wednesday, the officials of the White House told that the latest package will contain many of the "highly effective weapons systems" the US has already sent to Ukraine.

Other than this, this package will also include  "new capabilities" that are particularly customized to defend against the impending assault Russia is expected to carry out in eastern Ukraine. Other than the new artillery and armored gear, President Biden also said he approved the transfer of additional helicopters.

Press secretary John Kirby informed that the package contains chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear protective equipment after the Pentagon earlier this week said it was closely monitoring claims that Russia used chemical weapons in the besieged Ukrainian city of Mariupol. President Biden in a statement said: "The steady supply of weapons the United States and its Allies and partners have provided to Ukraine has been critical in sustaining its fight against the Russian invasion. We cannot rest now."
