News Synopsis

The second wave of covid-19 in the year 2021 hit India very hard. Active cases started increasing exponentially, the death toll was a figure no one wished to talk about, everyone lost someone. But the vaccination drive started to pace up with the rising number of cases. People went to vaccination centres despite the rumors of the vaccines, and now we have begun to create records in case of vaccination. The government is also showing a great response by now creating a method through which vaccines can be supplied to remote areas. Drones are now being used to transport vaccines to remote areas like hilly areas which especially includes northeast, rural areas, where the reach of vaccines is very low, as well as the vaccination centres, are too far away for people to reach. A live example was seen when a drone carrying ten doses flew from Bishnupur to a primary health clinic in the Karang island in Loktak - a 240-sq-km lake riddled with islands - in 12 minutes. The journey to Karang, where 3,500 people live, usually takes some four hours by boat and road. About 70% of the country's eligible population have received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine. While the vaccines for children are still under process.
