The Government to become the Biggest Shareholder in Vodafone Idea

News Synopsis

Vodafone Idea has announced that the company will accept the Indian government's proposal to convert the spectrum and adjusted gross revenue dues to equity, making the Indian government the largest shareholder in the company.  The Indian government will now be the owner of a 35.8 percent stake in the company. 

The company has said in a statement that the share can be held with the statutory undertaking of the Unit Trust of India for the government of India as per the agreement. 

SUUTI is a government-invested arm that owns a significant stake in publicly listed companies such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, and others.
