News Synopsis

According to reports, the owner of a Tesla Model S got his Model S electric sedan locked after the battery pack ran out, allegedly due to a design flaw. The car owner shared his pain in a video saying that he cannot even get the ownership documents to sell the vehicle which has been locked inside the car. This car owner has opted not to get this car repaired.

This incident is from Canada. Here a person, Mario Zelaya, bought this Tesla car in the year 2013, which now he cannot even enter. The EV manufacturer told him that the battery replacement cost would be $26,000 (approximately Rs 20 lakh). About 40 to 50 percent of the total cost of the car. Tesla is refusing to pay for a new battery because the problem was discovered after the vehicle's warranty expired. However, Zelaya claims the problem may have started while the vehicle was covered and has been in touch with Transport Canada, which is now investigating the issue. The standard warranty that car manufacturers offer on batteries is usually 8 years.

In a video shared on TikTok, car owner Zelaya is saying, "Not only did they check this car, but they're also going to do something Tesla didn't know would happen because I'm looking for another one." Was in touch with the car owner, who has faced the exact same problem. He says, "Battery dead, Tesla was trying to suppress this. They will not give them any explanation as to why the battery went dead."

However, it is unclear whether the organization is close to taking any action for the 2013-2014 Tesla Model S. And according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there is no ongoing investigation into the issue in the US.
