News Synopsis

Terry Daly has been appointed by Vedanta Limited as an advisor for its semiconductor division, the company stated on Tuesday. As the conglomerate considers building a state-of-the-art Semiconductor Fab Unit and Semiconductor Assembling and Testing Facility in India, Daly will be responsible for offering strategic advice and comments.

The CEO of Vedanta-Foxconn Semiconductors Limited (VFSL), David Reed, remarked, "We are thrilled to welcome Terry Daly to our team. According to a press statement from the business, "as an industry veteran, Terry brings a vast wealth of knowledge and experience in managing several workstreams that are critical for establishing a world-class semiconductor fab."

Daly moved from his position as a freelance consultant in the Microelectronics Sector to Vedanta. His previous employers include GlobalFoundries, where he served as Senior Vice President and held the posts of Chief of Staff, Head of Corporate Programme Management, and Head of Strategy and Corporate Development. He played an important part in the purchase of IBM's Microelectronics Division as well as the creation of a Strategic Partnership on Cutting-Edge Technology with Samsung.

Prior to that, Daly worked at IBM for 26 years, the majority of which were spent in the semiconductor industry. In that period, he held leadership positions in Business Management, Finance, Manufacturing Operations, Program Management, and Strategy. He was an Army officer for five years before joining IBM.

He received a master's degree in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, and a bachelor's degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

In an effort to draw in managers from the semiconductor sector, Vedanta has launched an ambitious worldwide talent acquisition push. David Reed, a seasoned business executive, was named CEO of VFSL in February. Lawrence (Wong Chee Yoong) was appointed Senior Director of Human Resources in April.
