The number of startups has been on the rise in India in the past few years. India has emerged as the second country with most startups in the last year and more and more Indian startups are getting recognized globally and touching the pinnacles of success. There is good news that has recently surfaced for the startup community. This year ten Indian startup has achieved the status of ‘Unicorn’, which was three last year in the starting two months. Achieving the status of ‘Unicron’ means the company’s valuation has reached one billion dollars. Last year only three companies- Digit, Innovacer, and Infra.Market was able to achieve the status of Unicorn in the first two months. This year ten companies- Fractal, DarwinBox, Hasura, Uniphore, Lead School, Xpressbess, Livspace, Dealshare, Elasticrun and Direct to consumer (D2C) company Mamaearth has acquired the status of Unicorn. After raising $100 million from Greenoaks Capital, Software as a company Hasura is the latest company to join the list. With this, the number of unicorns in India has reached 91. India’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, and India’s commerce and industry minister, Piyush Goyal said that they have high hopes for the rise of Indian Startups and are optimistic about their growth in the future.
