Tata Motors Teams Up with Delta Electronics and Thunderplus to Deploy 250 Fast-Charging Stations

Homegrown vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors has announced a significant development in its commitment to enhancing electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in India. On Wednesday, Tata Motors entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Delta Electronics India and Thunderplus Solutions Pvt Ltd. This collaboration is set to bolster the EV charging infrastructure across the country.

Objective of the Collaboration

The primary goal of this partnership is to establish 250 fast-charging stations across more than 50 cities in India. Key cities targeted for this expansion include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi. The new stations will complement the existing network of 540 commercial vehicle charging points, thus significantly improving the accessibility and convenience of EV charging.

Under this MoU, Tata Motors will play a crucial role in identifying suitable locations for the new charging stations. The company will also recommend nearby dealerships for the installation of these facilities. Delta Electronics India is tasked with providing the essential hardware needed for the charging stations. Meanwhile, Thunderplus Solutions Pvt Ltd will oversee the installation and operational management of these stations, ensuring they are fully functional and efficiently run.

Tata Motors’ Electric Vehicle Support

The Ace EV, a small commercial vehicle (SCV) designed for last-mile deliveries, will benefit from this expanded charging infrastructure. Tata Motors currently supports the Ace EV with over 150 Electric Vehicle Service Centres across India. The Ace EV is built on Tata’s EVOGEN platform and features a comprehensive battery management system, Fleet Edge telematics, and robust components designed for optimal performance.

The Ace EV is noted for its efficiency and performance, offering a certified range of 154 km on a single charge. It is powered by a single electric motor that delivers 36 BHP and 130 Nm of torque. The vehicle includes a lightweight container with a cargo volume of 208 cubic feet and can handle gradients of up to 22% when fully loaded, making it well-suited for various commercial applications.

Previous Collaborations

In addition to this recent MoU, Tata Motors has previously signed agreements with several notable companies, including Amazon, BigBasket, City Link, DOT, Flipkart, LetsTransport, MoEVing, and Yelo EV. These partnerships have facilitated the delivery and deployment of Tata Motors’ Ace EVs, further supporting the company’s efforts to expand its electric vehicle fleet and enhance last-mile delivery solutions.
