Starlink gets Approval to Operate in Brazil

SpaceX’s satellite internet constellation, Starlink has been granted the right to operate in Brazil. Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) has allowed the company to operate in Brazil. The agency has said that the customers will be able to get access to broadband services by purchasing capacity from the satellite network. 

Emmanoel Campelo, the interim president of Anatel has said that providing internet access to customers throughout the country is in the interest of the company only. He also talked about how internet services can be opportune to schools, hospitals and other establishments in rural and remote areas.

Starlink has also been trying to get a licence in India as the government of India has told the company to stop booking or rendering satellite internet services in India. It is also planning the refunds for their pre-orders. 

According to a recent report, Starlink has more than 1,45,000 users across 25 counties globally. It has also added around 11,000 new users per month till November 2021. Elon Musk has said at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) conference last year that Starlink will have roughly 500,000 users within the next 12 months.
