The IPL Media Rights bid organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India ended in Mumbai. In this bidding which started on June 12, Star India has bought the digital rights of IPL TV. Its official confirmation has been tweeted by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. The media rights for 2023 to 2027 IPL have been sold in this auction.

It is worth noting that BCCI has sold media rights in four packages. The board has sold the media rights for a total of Rs 48,390 crore. Star India won TV rights for Rs 23,575 crore. On the other hand, Viacom18 acquired digital rights for Rs 23,758 crore. In this regard, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah while confirming the media rights said that I am thrilled to announce that Star India has won the TV rights. TV Rights has placed a bid of Rs 23,575 crore. The bid is a direct testament to the organizational capabilities of the BCCI despite two consecutive pandemic years.

In another tweet, Jay Shah said that Viacom18 has got the digital rights with a winning bid of Rs 23,758 crore. India has witnessed a digital revolution. There are endless possibilities in this field. Let us inform you that earlier Star India had bought the media rights for the period 2017 to 2022 by placing a bid of Rs 16,347.50 crore in September 2017.
