SpiceJet's Safety is Not the Only Issue; it's  Cancellations & Complaints are also on the rise

News Synopsis

On July 2, a SpiceJet flight to Delhi made an emergency landing after smoke was discovered in the cabin while flying at 5,000 feet. Nonetheless, all of its passengers were unharmed. “A SpiceJet aircraft operating from Delhi to Jabalpur returned safely to the Delhi airport today morning after the crew noticed smoke in the cabin while passing 5000ft; passengers safely disembarked,” a Spicejet spokesperson said.
Five such incidents in the last three months have resulted in the safety of many SpiceJet passengers. However, the turbulent times that passengers have experienced may keep them away from the country's third-largest airline. In terms of passengers carried, it has a roughly 13% market share in the aviation sector.
It's not just about safety. According to a report by the regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation, SpiceJet ranked second in terms of flight cancellations in the month of May. (DGCA). Fly Big, based in Gurugram, holds the infamous top spot.

According to a recent LocalCircles survey, SpiceJet also topped the list of airlines whose services are the least satisfactory, followed by Indigo. Airlines in general have been cutting corners and sacrificing passenger comfort, according to 79% of Indian passengers polled.
