News Synopsis

SpaceX has finally launched Falcon-9 with the Italian Cosmo-Skymed satellite successfully. The launch took place at Florida’s Cape CanaveralSpace Force Station. The launch was supposed to take place on January 27 but due to the bad weather, the launch was postponed.

The production manager, Jessie Anderson has said that it was the 104th booster landing of the company. As a side booster on SpaceX’s massive Falcon Heavy rocket, it has also flown twice before.

With its long-range goals, the company is aiming to reduce the cost of spacelight to make ambitious exploration feats like Mars colonisation economically feasible. The Cosmo-SkyMed programme consists of two satellites, that are designed to observe Earth using synthetic aperture radar. CSG is an enhanced follow up of the original Cosmo-SkyMed system.
