News Synopsis

After a cryptic tweet, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Thursday announced a partnership with Noida-based edtech startup Classplus to promote thousands of instructors and content creators. After 30 years in Indian cricket, Ganguly resorted to social media to promote this endeavour. "The first step towards attaining your ambitions is having the appropriate coach," Ganguly says in the 30-second short.

Classplus claims to have digitized over a lakh educators and content creators in over 3,000 cities, servicing 30 million students and aiding them in growing their online profile and selling their online courses. "With Dada (Ganguly) himself by their side, we hope to help these edupreneurs further grow their reach and take their business to newer heights," said Mukul Rustagi, CEO and Co-Founder, Classplus.

The business just received $70 million in a Series D fundraising round headed by Alpha Wave Global and Tiger Global, and is now valued at about $600 million. Classplus assists educators and content creators in starting and growing their online coaching businesses.

Tiger Global, AWI, RTP Global, Blume Ventures, Sequoia Capital India's Surge, Spiral Ventures, Strive, Times Internet, and Abu Dhabi-based Chimera Ventures have all invested in the firm since its founding in 2018.
