News Synopsis

According to a letter sent by EV manufacturing giant- Tesla, Shanghai authorities assisted Tesla to transport over 6,000 workers and carry out the required disinfection work in order to reopen its factory. The letter, dated May 1 and addressed to local authorities in Shanghai's Lingang Special Area, highlighted the efforts of the authorities in order to help the United States based EV carmaker, showing the importance of the EV giant to Shanghai as the city tries to resume business while limiting the spread of COVID-19 infections. Tesla reopened its factory in Shanghai on April 19 after a 22-day interruption.

In its letter, the popular Electric Vehicle manufacturer expressed its gratitude to Lingang officials for their support, and informed how a company run by the Lingang Group had arranged buses to transport 6,000 workers of Tesla and its suppliers to the factory, and carried out disinfection work required for the company to commence "closed loop" production. In its letter, Tesla said, "They fought for three consecutive days, working round the clock and non-stop to guarantee our company's workers could return to the factory.”
