News Synopsis

Just before the COP26 Climate Change Summit, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia has said that Saudi Arabia is planning to cut its carbon emission totally by 2060. Climate Change has become an issue for all the countries, and to get a solution to this problem, Suadi Arabia has also taken a step towards reducing carbon emission. Along with this, the crown prince has also said that they will still continue to produce oil in the future as well.

Along with Saudi Arabia, a lot of countries have also claimed to work to achieve zero-emission in the future years. The crown prince has also said that they will achieve the target without affecting the stability of the global market. Saudi Arabia has previously also made claims on shifting towards renewable energy by planting more trees.

Richard Black, a senior associate at the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit, has mentioned that Saudi Arabia needs to be clear on its motives and people being cynical about the topic unless the country plans to ramp down its production of oil and gas to achieve the target of zero emission.
