Samsung to launch its own version of Metaverse

South Korean electronics giant, Samsung Electronics

is boosting its research and development of technologies related to metaverse in order to enhance its new growth engines and not to lag in the global race of developing metaverse and its related products. According to multiple sources, the Vice Chairman of the Electronics company, Han Jong-hee has recently discussed the topic with a number of employees and reassured the company's plan to launch  "Samsung's version of the metaverse.”

Yonhap news agency reported that Han said, "We will create Samsung's version of the metaverse. Please come up with many ideas and help materialize them.” It was not the first time the Vice-chairman mentioned the need to foray into the Metaverse given it appears to be the next big thing in the global tech industry.

Earlier, Social Media Giant Facebook,

officially changed its name to Meta, last year in November, believing the metaverse is "the next evolution of social connection.” At its annual shareholder’s meeting of Samsung, Han picks metaverse and robotics as the company’s new growth areas. He commented, "We will launch metaverse devices and solutions to enable customers to experience the new technology wherever they are.”
