Samsung to Surpass Xiaomi to Gain Top Spot in Indian Smartphone Market

Samsung seems to be on track to regain the top spot in the Indian smartphone market after its strong performance in March. South Korean company, which once replaced Nokia at the top of the Indian smartphone market, has lost its place to Xiaomi in the third quarter of 2020.

According to analysts, Samsung topped the charts in terms of overall market share and in the premium segment after it showed strong performance this March with the strong performance of its Galaxy S22 and A-Series range of smartphones. 

The company is on its way to surpassing Xiaomi in the overall market and is expected to take down Apple in the premium market as well. It got 81% market share in phones costing over 1 lakh in March, consisting largely of phones from Samsung and Apple, as per the data from Counterpoint Research.

Samsung dominated the 5G value price band of Rs 7,000 to Rs 25,000 as well, in the first quarter, according to Cybermedia Research. According to Counterpoint, the company ended the first quarter of 2022 with a 20% market share, behind Xiaomi’s 23%.
