News Synopsis

Russia, which has been sanctioned due to a shortage of food in department stores, has appealed to Indian retailers and agricultural exporters for urgent supply, especially as the EU has cut supplies for the second straight month.

The list includes orange marmalade, mango marmalade, pasta, oatmeal, pancake mix, spaghetti, basmati rice, coffee, tea, corn flakes, lamb, ketchup, and shrimp.

India and Russia are working on an alternative payment mechanism using the rupee and ruble after the US banned some Russian banks from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications (Swift) system.

The Russian Embassy in New Delhi has shared a list of delivery requirements with the federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO). Apex's export promotion organization is holding a buyer-seller meeting on Tuesday to match Russian companies with Indian sellers.

Russian trade associations have also reached out to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) for food, followed by shoes, imitation jewelry, and ready-made garments.
