News Synopsis

Indians are jubilant after the Telugu film RRR's historic Golden Globe win, which was a first for the country. Naatu Naatu, a catchy song from the movie, won best original song, besting artists like Taylor Swift and Rihanna.

The popular song was filmed in 2021 in front of Volodymyr Zelensky's official home. MM Keeravani, the song's composer, expressed his delight at receiving the award.

Many Indians, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressed their happiness at the news back home. The team was congratulated by Mr. Modi, who stated that the "prestigious honor has made every Indian very proud". AR Rahman, an Oscar-winning musician, referred to the victory as a "paradigm shift."

RRR is an action drama of epic proportions that was directed by S S Rajamouli, who previously created the Baahubali movie that established the pan-Indian movie trend. It is set in 1920 and follows the fictionalised story of Alluri Sitharama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem, two real-life Indian revolutionaries (Jr NTR). The film is focused on the two people's friendship and how they overcame obstacles while fighting for freedom, despite the fact that they never actually met.

To celebrate the news, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan posted on Twitter that he "woke up and started dancing to Naatu Naatu"

RRR, an acronym for Rise, Roar, Revolt, was created and directed by SS Rajamouli. It is a historical fantasy that stars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR as two revolutionaries who struggle against British tyranny in India.

The glittering action epic, one of India's most expensive movies, has been a big box office hit both domestically and internationally, including in the US. Last Monday, Hollywood actress Jessica Chastain tweeted that seeing the movie was "such a party."

When it was released on Netflix in May 2022, a Hindi version of the movie spent weeks in the US Top 10 Most Watched Titles list. Nicholas Barber and Caryn James, film critics for BBC Culture, named it one of the top 20 movies of the year in December, praising its "crazily over-the-top action movie" and compelling story.

Fans have also praised the movie's music, which includes national anthems, joyful dance routines, and romantic ballads.

The four-and-a-half-minute stomper Naatu Naatu, which stars Charan and Jr. NTR, has thousands of listeners bopping along to its beat. Their dynamic movements have sparked popular global and Indian social media trends.

The catchy dance moves that accompany the song's chorus, where the performer's shimmy and glide in a synchronised cowboy routine, have won over fans all over the world.

Prem Rakshit, the choreographer, said to have created approximately 95 dance steps for the song, including 30 variations of the signature step in only the chorus. The final, polished product, a delightful mash-up of dance genres ranging from an old barn stomp to a little Gangnam Style gallop and conventional Bollywood movements, took around 19 months from the first discussion to the final, polished output.
