News Synopsis

Sunak, a guru of Indian descent, is now the first Hindu Prime Minister of Britain. He was observed entering 10 Downing Street with a garland of marigolds around his neck and the holy red Hindu "Kalava" thread in his hand. On Tuesday, King Charles named Rishi Sunak as the new prime minister of Britain. Sunak attended Stanford University and Oxford University, two of the most prestigious universities in the world. Sunak is happy to identify as a Hindu.

He greeted everyone in attendance before introducing Kalava, which was then seen in his palm. Hindus use kalava, which is highly revered, during their religious ceremonies. Hindus believe that binding Kalava to the hand ensures victory over the adversary. As the first non-white person to hold the position of British Prime Minister, 42-year-old Rishi Sunak immediately made history. Additionally, he is the new King Charles III's first prime minister to take the oath of office. The election of Britain's first Hindu prime minister, according to British High Commissioner Alex Ellis, is a historic event. Sunak said in his statement from 10 Downing Street that he has been selected for the mistakes of former PM Liz Truss. He lauded former UK PM Liz Truss and paid tribute to her.

Rishi has been proud of his Hindu being and his Indian roots. That is why while celebrating the first Diwali after becoming the Finance Minister, he was also seen lighting Diwali lamps outside his residence at 11, Downing Street.

In Southampton, England, Sunak was born into an Indian-Hindu family. His grandparents were originally from Punjab. Son of a pharmacist mother and doctor father, Sunak was educated at one of Britain's most famous and expensive schools, Winchester, and then Oxford. He worked at Goldman Sachs Group for three years and then did his MBA from Stanford, California. It was here that he met Akshata Murthy.
