Reliance Retail adds over 1.5 lakh jobs in 2021-2022

Reliance Retail has hired more than 150,000 new employees in the 2021-22 fiscal year. This was a 70% increase in the workforce compared to the same period last year.

Gaurav Jain, head, strategy and business development, Reliance Retail said, “The retail business was leading the job creation vertical hiring over 1,50,000 employees across various functions of the business, this is more than twice the jobs created in the previous year. 

The company, which operates retail stores for fashion, grocery, electronics, and e-commerce, has also acquired more than 25,000 Future Group employees as part of its acquisition. The company said that the addition of new employees takes the retailer’s total staff strength to more than 3,61,000 employees, including both off role and on role. 

Reliance Retail also opened 793 stores, adding 3.1 million square feet of warehousing and fulfillment space during the first quarter of the year. It also delivered a strong performance in its consumer electronics business with the recovery of mall stores and continued uptick in small towns.
