RCPL Takes Majority Stake in Southern Health Foods
Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries, has acquired Southern Health Foods Private Limited, a leading health foods manufacturer based in Tamil Nadu. The company owns the flagship brand Manna.
In a filing to the BSE, Reliance stated that Southern Health Foods has been a leading manufacturer in the healthy foods business for more than two decades. RCPL announced the purchase of a majority stake in Southern Health Foods Private Limited.
Under the joint venture structure, RCPL will hold the controlling stake, while the existing promoters will retain a minority stake. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Strengthening the Staples and Foods Portfolio
In its BSE exchange filing, Reliance said that the addition of Manna has further strengthened RCPL’s foods and staples portfolio, which already includes brands such as Udhayam, Independence, and SiL.
The acquisition helps RCPL build a strong business vertical in the rapidly growing millet-based foods segment. It also reinforces the company’s commitment to its core philosophy of delivering “global quality at affordable prices” to millions of consumers across India.
Alongside portfolio expansion, RCPL aims to establish a strong presence in the health foods category nationwide.
