Tata Consultancy Services, an Indian provider of IT services, said in a regulatory filing that its CEO, Rajesh Gopinathan, has resigned.

K Krithivasan was named CEO-designate on and announced that subject to shareholder approval, he will take on the positions of CEO and managing director in the coming fiscal year.

"The Board has nominated K Krithivasan as the CEO Designate, with effect from 16th March 2023. Krithivasan will go through a transition with Rajesh Gopinathan and will be appointed as the Managing Director and CEO in the next financial year," According to the statement.

Rajesh Gopinath has resigned

Gopinathan had served as CEO of the Indian IT juggernaut for six years before departing. In January of last year, he was reappointed to the position until 2027.

The decision comes at a time when the Indian IT industry is facing a difficult macroeconomic climate in its core markets of the United States and Europe.

Who is K Krithivasan, TCS's next CEO?

K Krithivasan joined the organization in 1989 and has held senior positions in delivery, relationship management, large-program management, and sales.

Krithivasan formerly served as President and Global Head of Tata Consultancy Services' Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance Business Unit.

According to his TCS profile, he was in charge of developing and executing growth initiatives, enhancing financial performance, and expanding customer mindshare and market positioning.

He has helped important clients with digital transformation, change management cycle acceleration, generating value beyond cost optimization, and establishing IT program governance, according to the organization.

He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Madras and a master's degree in industrial and management engineering from IIT Kanpur.
