Rajeev Chandrasekhar Meets with the PM of UK to Discuss India-UK Collaborations in Innovation and Technology

According to an official release, Minister of State for Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar met with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Friday to discuss future collaborations and partnerships between India and the UK in the innovation and technology sectors.

According to the release, Chandrasekhar told reporters later that both India and the UK want to dramatically expand the innovation economy.

"Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar met UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Friday, along with a delegation of Indian startups, unicorns, and innovators," the statement said, adding that the two sides discussed future collaborations and partnerships in the innovation and technology sectors.

Chandrasekhar also met Paul Scully, British MP in this regard. "We want to take the digital economy to be 25 per cent of the total economy. The UK government also wants to expand the slice of that pie too," Chandrasekhar told reporters.

At the India Global Forum, he also held ministerial roundtable discussions with Priti Patel, UK Home Secretary, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, UK Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade, and Chris Philip, UK Minister for Technology and Digital Economy.

Chandrasekhar outlined India's rapid technological advancements, stating that the country is designing 5G gear and manufacturing devices used in the production of 5G products.
