Rajamouli's RRR Wins The Best Foreign Film And Best Song Critics Choice Awards

News Synopsis

The SS Rajamouli movie RRR continues its winning streak by taking home two Critics Choice Awards  (CCA) trophies: Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song for "Naatu Naatu".

The Telugu blockbuster, starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, was nominated for five CCA awards: Best Foreign Language Film, Best Visual Effects (V Srinivas Mohan), Best Picture, and Best Song ('Naatu Naatu').

"RRR" was competing against movies including "All Quiet on the Western Front," "Argentina 1985," "Bardo," "False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths," "Close," and "Decision to Leave" in the Best Foreign Language Film category.

In addition to "Carolina" (Where the Crawdads Sing), "Ciao Papa" (Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio), "Hold My Hand" (Top Gun: Maverick), "Lift Me Up" (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), and "New Body Rhumba, (White Noise) " RRR's foot-tapping dance number "Naatu Naatu," which won the Golden Globe for "best original song-motion.

Additionally, Naatu Naatu recently won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) award for outstanding music core.

The song was composed by veteran music director MM Keeravaani, and it features vocals by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj.

The Oscars shortlist that was revealed last month includes it as well. The film was included in the "film not in the English language" last week.

A fictional pre-Independence story called "RRR" focuses on Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, two real Indian revolutionaries who lived during the 1920s.

While everything was going on, Rajamouli posted a few images to his Instagram account and let his followers know that renowned Hollywood director James Cameron appreciated his movie and had seen RRR twice.

James Cameron, the great, viewed RRR... He like it so much that he took his wife Suzy to see it and they both saw it twice. I still find it hard to believe you reviewed our movie with us for a whole 10 minutes. As you said I AM ON TOP OF THE WORLD... Thank you both,", Rajamouli said.

The best-known films of Cameron include "Avatar," "Avatar: The Way of Water," "Titanic," and "The Terminator."

Rajamouli recently was introduced to Steven Spielberg. On Twitter, he posted images from his conversation with the veteran Hollywood star. The director, who is also known for the successful "Baahubali" films, said in the caption, "I just met GOD!!!"
