News Synopsis

According to a document, the US chipmaker Qualcomm has been included in the top five customers of Samsung Electronics in the first quarter. Simultaneously, the South Korean tech giant named Apple, Best Buy, Deutsche Telekom, Qualcomm, and Supreme Electronics as its five biggest customers.

Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon in December confirmed that the company is using the Samsung Foundry's 4-nanometer process to produce its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. The US company has switched to Samsung's biggest foundry rival TSMC for its latest processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, which is widely expected to debut this Friday.

With strong demand for all applications and better yields from advanced processes, Samsung said its foundry business achieved its highest quarterly sales in the January-March period.

Kang Moon-soo, senior vice president and head of the foundry, Samsung's senior vice president and head of the foundry, said, "We have entered into a long-term contract with our key customers and through this, we are able to maintain a stable fab and have been able to achieve comfort in terms of operations and supply stability. If you look at our order book for the next five year period, the total orders are around eight times our last year's revenue.
