News Synopsis

End-user spending on India's public cloud spending is expected to reach $7.5 billion in 2022, an increase of 29.3% from 2021, according to Gartner's Tuesday report. Cloud System Infrastructure Services (IaaS) is expected to show the highest growth (39.4%) this year, followed by Cloud Application Infrastructure Services (PaaS).

Sid Nag, research vice president at Gartner said, “Driven by the maturation of core cloud services, the focus of differentiation is gradually shifting to capabilities that can disrupt digital businesses and operations in enterprises directly.”

Global end-user spending on public cloud services is expected to increase by 20.4%  from $410.9 billion in 2021 to a total of $494.7 billion in 2022. By 2023, end consumer spending is expected to reach nearly $600 billion.

Global IaaS is projected to have the highest end-user spending of 30.6% in 2022, followed by desktop as a service (DaaS) at 26.6% and platform as a service (PaaS) at 26.1%. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) remains the largest public cloud services market segment, with end-user spending projected to reach $176.6 billion in 2022.

"IT leaders who view the cloud as an enabler rather than an end state will be most successful in their digital transformational journeys. The organizations combining cloud with another adjacent, emerging technologies will fare even better," said Sid Nag.
