Prime Video Adds Sony LIV Subscription in India at ₹399 Per Month

Prime Video Expands Its Add-On Subscription Catalogue

Prime Video India has expanded its streaming options by introducing Sony LIV as an add-on subscription. The partnership enables customers to watch Sony LIV’s movies, television programmes, original series and live sports through Prime Video, bringing multiple entertainment options together on one platform.

The subscription is priced at ₹399 per month or ₹1,499 per year. Users can access the service through Prime Video on smartphones, web browsers, Fire TV, smart televisions and other compatible living room devices.

The integration is designed to make it easier for viewers to discover and enjoy content from different streaming platforms without managing each service separately.

Sony LIV Offers Movies, Shows and Multilingual Entertainment

Sony LIV’s catalogue available through Prime Video features more than 450 movies and 300 television shows, along with on-demand entertainment in several Indian languages.

Popular titles include the Scam franchise, Gullak and Sitaare Zameen Par. The platform also offers established television programmes such as Kaun Banega Crorepati, Indian Idol, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Pushpa Impossible.

The offering includes programmes and new seasons such as KBC Season 18 and Indian Idol Season 17, as well as Family Full House With Rohit Sharma.

Content is available across languages including Hindi, English, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Gujarati, catering to viewers with varied regional and entertainment preferences.

Live Sports Strengthen the Sony LIV Offering

Live sports are a key component of the Sony LIV add-on subscription. Subscribers can access selected sporting events, including bilateral India cricket matches, the UEFA Champions League, the French Open, the Commonwealth Games and UFC.

The partnership also comes as India’s tour of New Zealand is scheduled to begin on October 22, featuring Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

By combining entertainment programming with live sporting events, the service aims to appeal to households seeking both on-demand viewing and live coverage through a single streaming destination. Availability of individual events may depend on the platform’s applicable streaming rights and schedule.

Prime Video Highlights Greater Entertainment Choice

Gaurav Bhasin, Head of AVOD Business and Marketplace at Prime Video India, said the addition of Sony LIV supports the company's ambition to establish Prime Video as a comprehensive entertainment destination.

He highlighted the combination of a broad content library, television programming and live sports, noting that the partnership expands the variety of multilingual entertainment available to Indian customers.

The integration gives viewers access to Sony LIV’s daily television content and sports programming alongside Prime Video’s existing catalogue and other subscribed services.

Sony Pictures Networks India Looks to Expand Its Reach

Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head – Sports and International at Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), said the partnership would provide another way for audiences to discover Sony LIV’s content.

He pointed to the platform’s popular television properties, including Kaun Banega Crorepati and Indian Idol, along with its upcoming Tamil programme Sony VIZHA and the new Marathi season of Kon Honaar Crorepati.

Kaul also emphasised the importance of live sports and Sony LIV’s original productions. The collaboration is expected to help extend the reach of the platform’s entertainment and sports offering to more viewers.

Prime Video Add-On Subscriptions Simplify Streaming

Prime Video’s add-on model allows customers to manage subscriptions and billing through one account. Other features include a combined watchlist, offline downloads, cross-service search and personalised recommendations.

With Sony LIV joining the catalogue, Prime Video says its add-on offering now includes more than 30 streaming services. The model provides viewers with a central place to discover content across participating platforms, while allowing them to choose subscriptions according to their interests.

Conclusion

The addition of Sony LIV strengthens Prime Video India’s add-on subscription portfolio by bringing together movies, television shows, regional-language programming and live sports. Priced at ₹399 monthly or ₹1,499 annually, the service offers another option for viewers who prefer managing multiple entertainment choices through a single platform. The partnership also gives Sony LIV an additional route to reach audiences across India.
