News Synopsis

On Monday, Software as a service (SaaS) startup Postman announced that in order to promote API literacy amongst students and developers, it will be investing Rs 2 crore to open an application programming interface (API) Lab at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani). The API Lab is expected to be functional in the month of December later this year. Postman was founded by Abhinav Asthana, Abhijit Kane, and Ankit Sobti in the year 2014. Last year in the month of August, the SaaS startup raised $225 million in a fundraising round. This was led by Insight Partners who is already an investor in the company. Chief Executive Officer of the startup, Mr. Asthana on its latest investment said: “Students with a strong base of API literacy can do great things. Our vision is to power an API-first world, and this partnership with BITS Pilani is a major milestone on this journey. By empowering educators to teach API skills in schools and colleges around the world, we are giving students the tools they need to succeed and stand out in a competitive hiring market, so they can continue bringing the API-first world to life.”
