PhysicsWallah and Startup India Partner to Support 25,000 Early-Stage Startups Across India

PhysicsWallah School of Startups (PW SoS), the entrepreneurship arm of education company PhysicsWallah, has entered into a two-year strategic partnership with Startup India under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The collaboration aims to strengthen entrepreneurship, promote deep-tech innovation and provide structured assistance to 25,000 early-stage startups.

Partnership to Strengthen Entrepreneurship Beyond Major Cities

The initiative will focus on entrepreneurs operating in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, as well as rural areas. By expanding access to startup resources beyond major metropolitan centres, the partnership seeks to help aspiring founders develop business ideas and build sustainable ventures.

The programme will combine training, mentoring, product development support, incubation facilities, investor connections and access to early-stage funding. Its objective is to help startups progress from the initial idea stage towards developing products, attracting investment and expanding their operations.

PW SoS is also an accredited incubator under the Uttar Pradesh government's StartInUP initiative, strengthening its role in supporting emerging businesses.

PW UDYAMI Offers Training and Mentorship

One of the key programmes under the collaboration is PW UDYAMI, designed for entrepreneurs from smaller towns and rural communities.

The initiative provides a 90-day live online training course, followed by one year of mentorship. This structure is intended to help participants understand the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, develop their business concepts and gain guidance as they work towards establishing their ventures.

By combining online learning with continued mentorship, the programme aims to make entrepreneurial education more accessible to founders who may have limited access to established startup networks.

Aarambh Immersion Focuses on Product Development

The Aarambh Immersion programme will offer a five-day residential experience for aspiring entrepreneurs. Its focus areas include prototype development, pitch preparation and networking.

The programme is intended to help founders move beyond initial ideas and begin developing practical solutions. Participants can work on presenting their concepts more effectively while building connections with other entrepreneurs and potential ecosystem partners.

These activities can help early-stage ventures improve product readiness and prepare for discussions with investors, mentors and prospective business partners.

Growth Stage CEO Program to Support 200 Startups

For businesses that have moved beyond the earliest stages, PW SoS will introduce the Growth Stage CEO Program.

The initiative will support 200 DPIIT-recognised startups through four hybrid cohorts. It aims to help participating founders strengthen their business operations and prepare for growth-stage fundraising.

The programme will provide a more focused development pathway for ventures seeking investment to expand their products, teams and market presence.

Deep-Tech Accelerator to Help High-Potential Ventures

The six-month PW DeepTech Accelerator will target selected startups with strong growth potential. The programme is designed to help these businesses accelerate their development and improve their access to funding opportunities.

Deep-tech ventures often require specialised technical expertise, product development resources and longer development cycles. Accelerator programmes can help address some of these challenges by connecting founders with relevant guidance, infrastructure and potential investors.

The initiative forms part of the partnership's broader effort to encourage innovation-driven businesses across India.

AI Startup Challenge and Seed Funding Opportunities

PW SoS will also support early-stage innovators through proof-of-concept opportunities, corporate pilot projects and seed investment under the annual National AI Startup Challenge and SeedX.

These initiatives are intended to help entrepreneurs test their ideas, demonstrate the practical value of their solutions and explore opportunities for commercial deployment.

In addition, startups will be able to access incubation assistance and seed grants through the StartInUP Business Incubation Centre, an Uttar Pradesh government-approved facility hosted by PW SoS.

Such support can help founders address early development costs and move promising technologies closer to market readiness.

DPIIT and PW SoS Highlight Grassroots Innovation

Ateesh Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary at DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said supporting entrepreneurs beyond Tier-I cities was essential to building a stronger startup ecosystem. He noted that the partnership would help grassroots innovators access resources, mentorship and infrastructure to develop scalable businesses and create employment.

Rounaq Mustafa, Head of PW SoS, said the collaboration aimed to make entrepreneurial knowledge, guidance and funding more accessible. He highlighted programmes such as PW UDYAMI, Aarambh and deep-tech acceleration as key avenues for helping aspiring founders turn ideas into viable businesses.

Conclusion

The two-year partnership between PhysicsWallah School of Startups and Startup India aims to broaden access to entrepreneurship support across smaller cities and rural India. Through training, incubation, mentorship, accelerator programmes and funding opportunities, the initiative seeks to help early-stage founders build sustainable businesses. Its focus on grassroots innovation and deep technology could contribute to a more inclusive startup ecosystem and support employment generation across the country.
