News Synopsis

Japanese automakers Nissan and Toyota have announced their entry into the Metaverse to provide users with new virtual experiences, hold digital events and build virtual customer service offices.

The two companies are committed to innovating the Metaverse, and thanks to a partnership with video game developer startup VRChat, they are using virtual reality to provide immersive car exhibits.

Nissan focuses on creating virtual reality spaces for its customers. In contrast, Toyota will focus on the remote work environment and set up an office for employees to use Avatar to discuss technical development.

The company is also planning to host its work meetings in the Metaverse. None of the companies has officially informed about in which Metaverse they will be launching their new offices, centralized ones like Meta’s or decentralized ones like Decentraland.

Nissan and Toyota are not the first automakers to innovate this new Metaverse trend. Other companies such as Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz launched a campaign to promote their entry into the Metaverse in early April, offering prizes such as the latest PS5 and advanced driving lessons at one of Volkswagen's academies.
