Nissan Motor India is planning to launch three vehicles by 2024-25, including two SUVs in the C and C+ segments and an electric SUV in the A segment, Rakesh Srivastava, MD of Nissan Motor stated on Saturday.

The business exhibited its fourth-generation X-Trail and the Qashqai which are being homologated to sell as CBUs later in the year.

Now Nissan only sells the B segment SUV Magnite that is introduced in December 2020, in the midst of the Covid pandemic. It has also stopped selling the SUV Kicks. Magnite has a 5 percent share in the SUV category.

"We have faced extremely challenging years in 2020 and 2021. We are looking to hold the volume that Magnite sold in 2022," stated Srivastava.

Recently, the Nissan Renault partnership announced a Rs 5,300-crore investment in India and signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government. There would be six new cars to be launched in India, three each by the alliance partners.

Nissan revealed that of the three, two would be petrol SUVs and one an electric SUV.

"The investment of Rs5,300 crore will be utilised in product development. These cars are being developed for India as well as the world. It is a market of SUVs and it is a market of hybrids and EVs. By the time we launch the EV ecosystem will have fallen in place,"  added Srivastava.

The corporation is also leveraging its exports since 55 percent of its volume is for exports. It sells the Magnite in 15Right Hand Drive (RHD) countries in South East Asia and South Africa. It will shortly start manufacturing Left HandDrive (LHD) Magnites to sell in Latin America and Mexico.

"Mexico is an important market for Nissan where it has18 per cent market share,"  Srivastava continued.
