Nirmala Sitharaman Meets Heads of FedEx, Mastercard

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with CEOs of major American companies such as FedEx and Mastercard to discuss various investment opportunities in India that are ready to become the world's fastest-growing major economy. 

FedEx President and Chief Executive Officer Raj Subramanian said in a meeting with the Finance Minister that he has a positive view of India and has important expansion plans, including the education sector. 

Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a national master plan of Rs 100 lakh crore for multimodal connections with the aim of reducing logistic costs and developing infrastructure to boost the economy.

In a meeting with MasterCard CEO Miebach Michael, Sitharaman updated the Government of India's commitment to digital financial inclusion focused on women and small businesses through the development of best-in-class homemade technology solutions.

Mastercard has updated its plans to build a large data center in India, which focuses on improving the skills and digitization of SMEs. In another effort of this kind, she also met with the Global CEO of consulting firm Deloitte Punit Renjen.
